4 R O O M S

We live in fast moving society, obsessed with other people's lives and newest technology gadgets.

But once in a while we all wish to be somewhere else, where we can “stop the time” and be ourselves.

4 R O O M S is the project based round the idea of escaping the real world and creating your own, inside the wardrobe.

It is a series of 10 colour pictures, 4 different rooms represents a few simple things, like having time to read a newspaper or a book, listen to your favourite music or to watch TV program which no one else likes, which however is very important to yourself.

The photographs of 4 R O O M S came from the observation of life and my fascination with music, books and other artist work.

SMOOTH CRIMINAL

The idea for this book came to me one fine day in New York. I was reading The Village Voice when I saw Lindsay Lohan's mug shot, looking all glamoures, smiling and being very happy despite the fact, she was going to jail next day. I started to think about the role of the photography in today's fast moving society and the power of a single picture to influence. People's obsession with a celebrity world and desire to record every move they make.

I have decided to create a series of portraits of different people and match crimes to their personalities and appearance. I wanted to show different interesting perspective that’s why I focused on male crimes, however portrayed them through the female characters.

This book features 16 pictures which I shot in the studio using my DSLR and a ring flash which created that halo effect round the person. I wanted to keep them very simple and in tradition of mug shots, (having a person in the central of the picture plus either left/ right side). I made my own black boards with the information which can only be found in police records and experiment with backdrops.

As a constant change in photography is hard to define and photography itself is ever present everywhere we look: newspapers, billboards on the streets or art galleries. I wanted to make a book which would show the deception of our reality and that behind every picture, there is Art.

I hope you enjoy looking at my pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them.
